Do you have a teenager or a preteen who you want to keep off of TikTok?
While TikTok has a number of systems and features in place, which are designed to block very young users from being able to access and interact with TikTok content, sometimes the easiest thing to do is to block the app on their device.
In this article, we’re focussing on the iPhone and how to block TikTok from being used on an iPhone.
3 Steps to Block TikTok
If you want to block TikTok on someone else’s iPhone, the best thing you can do is activate parental controls.
These controls are hidden behind a password wall, which can only be accessed by those with the password. The benefit of this is that the device and the apps downloaded onto that device can be managed and monitored by a parent user, who has the power to block apps from being downloaded and opened.
- Head to your iPhone device settings
- Click on ‘Screen Time’ and, if it’s not already on, opt to ‘Turn On Screen Time’
- Choose the apps that you want to block
Through this screen time feature, you can also limit the amount of time that users can spend on certain apps or on their device as a whole. You can even connect your device to theirs, so that you can see where they are spending their time online and take steps to keep them safe.
All of this is in the name of protecting your children and potentially vulnerable users. As well as these steps you can take to block TikTok completely, it is worth noting that the app itself has various obstacles in place for users who may be deemed too young to use the app. So, even if they do get through to TikTok on their iPhone, the app itself won’t let them be exposed to harmful or inappropriate content.
