Instagram Video Downloader
With just a few quick and easy steps, you can now keep almost any IG video in your personal collection to be watched over and over again, or to be shared with relatives and friends.
What is Twicsy’s Free Instagram Video Downloader?
Instagram has become one of the world’s leading social media platforms because of the robust features that make the app useful and fun. There’s one feature missing, though, and it’s one that most users have longed for ever since they first logged onto the system: the ability to download videos.
We’ve all experienced the problem. You watch a video that’s hilarious, or poignant, or fascinating — and you wish you could share it with a friend or family member who isn’t on the Gram. However, Instagram videos can’t be downloaded from the app; all you can do is share them with others who have IG accounts.
That’s not unusual. Most big social platforms prohibit people from saving videos that users have uploaded. There are two reasons why; millions of people downloading content would put tremendous stress on the system, and many downloaders would take vids they don’t own and use them for unauthorized or even nefarious purposes.
This tool, like all of the free Instagram tools we offer on our website, is completely free to use with no obligation. We don’t ask for any personal information like your login information, credit card number, or email, and you don’t have to be a Twicsy customer to use our video downloader as often as you’d like.
With just a few quick and easy steps, you can now keep almost any IG video in your personal collection to be watched over and over again, or to be shared with relatives and friends. In many ways, this Twicsy tool “completes” the Instagram experience and makes the app even more enjoyable to use.
Why Would You Want to Download Instagram Videos?
It’s virtually impossible to spend any meaningful time on Instagram without seeing at least one or two videos that you simply love. Maybe a precious video of a baby makes you smile from ear to ear, or a compilation of adorable pet vids makes you laugh so hard you simply have to share it with a parent, child, or significant other.
You might see a prank video that’s so off-the-wall that you want to have in your collection forever or a travelogue that makes you remember your own trip to the same area fondly. Or you might want to be able to rewatch the best explanation you’ve ever seen of a complicated political issue.
If you’ve seen any of those posts on Instagram, you’ve been out of luck. The system simply won’t let you download videos from users’ accounts. And sharing a post isn’t possible if the people you want to share it with don’t have IG accounts (or if they don’t bother to check their feeds).
That’s all changed now that Twicsy’s Instagram video downloader is available. With just a couple of clicks, you can now save any video you see on a public Instagram account to your device or computer and have it available for later viewing, sharing with friends, or saving for years to come.
The word “public” (meaning that all users can see an account’s content) in the last sentence is important; our video downloader cannot access or provide access to videos that have been uploaded to IG accounts that have been set to “private.” If you run into difficulties with our tool, that’s probably why the video you want to download isn’t available.
Otherwise, Twicsy’s Instagram video downloader provides the function that most users wish for: the ability to save terrific videos they see on peoples’ accounts and have them available for viewing at their convenience. And the tool is 100% free to use, whether you’re a Twicsy customer or not.
What Type of Videos Can Be
Downloaded with the Twicsy Tool?
All videos that haven’t been uploaded to private accounts can be downloaded with this Twicsy Instagram tool. That means you can download videos of any length. You can download videos that have been shot in any size, format, bitrate, or resolution.
There’s also no limit to the number of times you can use the Twicsy video downloader. If you’re a fan of an account that has uploaded dozens of videos, you can download all of them. Just be aware that it can take quite some time for each download to complete, and the download speed will depend on the speed of your Internet connection as well as the length of the video. If you’ve chosen a long vid, it may take several minutes before the video is on your machine and you can watch it.
Our Instagram video tool has been designed to maximize the quality of the videos you download, so even if you have chosen to access a vid that’s been shot in 4K, that’s how it will appear when you view it later. It’s the IG function you’ve always wanted.
Why Doesn’t Instagram Have a Built-In Video Download Function?
We’ve already touched on this briefly, but here’s a more detailed explanation.
It’s not known publicly how many servers it takes to handle the 100 million videos and photos uploaded to Instagram every day, but the platform has dozens of data centers all over the world and it’s believed there are thousands of servers in each one. And that doesn’t even count the cloud storage that’s used for most of the material stored on the service.
If Instagram allowed downloading of all of that content, that would double the amount of computing resources they’d need to handle the demand — and that would dramatically increase the cost of running the system. One reason that IG doesn’t allow downloading is simply an economic one, and just about every other social media platform has made the same decision.
There’s also a major problem that Instagram avoids by prohibiting downloads: a legal one. Content creators own the copyright to the material they produce, and the issue of ownership starts to get cloudy when videos are uploaded to the Internet and then made available for download by other users.
By preventing its users from downloading the videos displayed on Instagram, the company reassures users that their content can’t be “stolen,” and sidesteps many of the legal questions it could face if its users used downloaded videos for their own, sometimes questionable purposes.
That brings up an issue the lawyers say we have to mention. Even if you use the Twicsy tool to download a video, that doesn’t mean that you own it. The person or entity that creates a video is the owner of the content’s copyright, and only they can give permission for it to be used in specific ways.
If you want to know the legalities involved when you copy material from the Internet, you should consult a lawyer. It’s been generally accepted that people can download videos for their own, private use without receiving permission from their owner, but you could find yourself in legal trouble if you download material from Instagram and post it elsewhere as if you owned it.
We’re pleased to offer this tool, but be smart. Use common sense when downloading Instagram videos and only use the content for your own personal enjoyment.
