The phone number connected to your Instagram account may not seem very important when you’re using the app, but if something goes wrong and you need to unlock your profile after being hacked or access your log in information, you’ll wish you had an updated number saved under your account.
Luckily, changing your phone number on Instagram is easy – with the personal details setting in your app letting you update your number as well as your date of birth, email address, and more.
5 Steps to Change Your Number
- Head to your profile page on Instagram and click on the menu button in the top right hand corner of the page (indicated by the three horizontal lines)
- Select ‘Settings and Privacy’
- Click on ‘Accounts Centre’ then scroll down to the Account Settings and select ‘Personal Details’
- Click on ‘Contact Info’
- This will bring up a list of your contact information. You can add a new contact method using the blue button at the bottom of the screen, then delete an outdated number by clicking on it and selecting ‘Delete’
Doing this whenever you change your number or your other contact details will help to ensure that you are always ahead of any issues and can unlock and access your account even if you find yourself locked out.
