There are all sorts of reasons why you may want to delete and clear your search history on Instagram. Perhaps you share the account with another user and want to keep certain searches to yourself. Or perhaps you want to kickstart a new algorithm which encourages Instagram to start presenting fresh content to you via the Explore page.
Whatever it is, deleting your Instagram searches creates that blank canvas feeling on your app and lets you start from scratch – whether you’re searching for a specific user or browsing ideas for an event or special occasion.
Here’s how to do it in just five quick steps.
5 Steps to Clear Your Instagram Search History
- From your Instagram homepage, click on the magnifying glass icon along the bottom of the screen
- Click in the Search bar, as if you’re going to search for a new name or keyword
- On the same line as the heading ‘Recent’, click on ‘See All’ in blue. This should sit at the top of a list of your previous searches
- This will bring up all of your recent searches made on Instagram
- You can either manually delete the ones you want to hide by selecting the grey cross next to the name or phrase or click on ‘Clear All’ in the top right hand corner. Finally, confirm your action via the pop up box which appears.
And voila! All evidence of your previous search history is gone!
