TikTok shares a number of features with other social media apps – having launched and found its position in the market at a time when Instagram and Facebook were already established.

Contacts can be found on TikTok via your Facebook friends list. Meanwhile, TikTok has engineered its own form of DM inbox like the one that can be found on Instagram, and also supports videos of different lengths alongside live streams delivered by prolific creators.

One of the newer features that TikTok has launched mimics another style of Instagram content: the carousel post. In this kind of post, users can upload a series of photographs which followers and users can swipe through themselves – just like in an Instagram carousel post.

Here’s how to make it…

5 Steps to Create a Photo Swipe Carousel Post

  1. Click on the plus sign in the centre of the menu, running along the bottom of the screen
  2. Select ‘Upload’ to add photos from your camera reel / device. NOTE: You will need to have granted TikTok permission to access your camera reel, in order to do this
  3. Select all of the photos that you want to upload to your carousel, by clicking inside the small circle at the top right hand corner of each image. A number will appear in each photo you select – highlighting the order in which the images will be presented
  4. Reorder photos as required, using the small, selected photo icons along the bottom of the selection screen. When you’re happy with the order, select ‘Next’
  5. There are two options available – one is ‘Photo’, and one is ‘Video’. Make sure that the toggle is switched to ‘Photo’ to make your post a swipe-friendly carousel post

And voila! When you move onto the final editing screen where you can add a caption and other details, you will see that the Post is displayed as a series of images rather than one seamless piece of content. This shows that you have created a post that followers can swipe through!
