Did you know that TikTok started life as a platform designed for lip syncing and dance challenges?

While the app and the way it is used by creators has significantly expanded and developed over the years and with its growth, dance challenges are a mainstay on the ‘For You’ page of pretty much every user.

So, how do you learn a TikTok dance that you see on the app and want to get involved in and film for yourself?

Well, it largely depends on who the creator is and whether they are the choreographer or simply sharing their own take on a trending dance. Either way, the best way to learn a TikTok dance is to access the video on the largest screen that you can and play it over and over until the routine becomes second nature to you.

Saving a Dance Video to Access Later

If you see a TikTok dance routine on your smartphone and want to open it on a tablet later, the most important thing to do there and then is Save or Favourite the video so that you can find it again later.

On a larger screen, you will find it easier to identify the moves and see how the creator works them together into a seamless flow of movement.

Learning a Dance and Sharing It Yourself

Once you’ve learnt a dance, it’s time to film yourself and share it to your own TikTok.

When you do this, take care to use the same trending audio clip and use the same trending hashtags, to ensure that your version is linked with the dance challenge and becomes a part of the overarching conversation on TikTok.

Sharing a dance on TikTok, especially one that is trending already, is a great way to boost visibility of your profile and content. And once you’ve built up your confidence, you could even try sharing a dance challenge of your own!

Happy dancing!
