Sometimes, life happens – and you need to push the TikTok that you are creating to one side in order to deal with something else that requires your attention.

When this happens, it helps to know that TikTok saves your unfinished videos as drafts, and that you can dive right in and keep editing them until they’re ready to share, whenever you want.

Now, before we share the process for editing a draft, there are a few things you need to take note of.

  1. Drafts are only accessible on the device that you created them on. They do not transfer across devices, meaning that if you start a TikTok on your phone, you need to finish and upload it from that same phone
  2. Drafts are automatically deleted if you uninstall or delete the TikTok app

Understood? Let’s dive into the process of editing!

3 Steps to Edit a Draft

  1. Navigate to your profile page on TikTok
  2. You will find saved drafts at the top of your video grid, accessible and visible only to you as the account holder and creator
  3. Select the video that you want to edit, and open it in the editing screen

You can now make any changes you like to your draft, using the basic tools accessible through TikTok, or downloading your draft to another platform and adding extra features before reuploading it to TikTok for posting.

Once you’re happy with your video, make sure to add the relevant caption and hashtags, before sharing your video. This will remove the draft from your editing folder and will enable all users (or just your followers if you have a Private profile) to see your TikTok.

Happy creating!
