There’s nothing worse than logging out of Instagram… only to find that you’ve forgotten your password and can’t get back in.
Now, full disclaimer, this blog is designed to be read before you log out – so that you can uncover and write down your password before you need it.
So, provided you’re still logged in, here are the steps to find your password.
Uncovering Your Password
If you want to find out what your Instagram password is while you’re logged into the app on your device, then you need to go to your device settings and select ‘Passwords’.
If you have saved the password, then you will be able to uncover it here (once you’ve been through the security checks which may include Touch ID or Face ID).
If Instagram isn’t listed, it’s also worth checking Facebook as the direct link between the two apps means that there’s a high chance your passwords are the same.
Forgotten Your Password Completely?
If you’ve already logged out and cannot remember the password to re-access your Instagram account, then you need to follow the steps to reset.
- On the login screen, click ‘Get Help Signing In’
- Type your username, or the email address linked to your account, and select ‘Next’
- Instagram will invite you to send an email, SMS message, or a Facebook message to recover access to your account. This will likely be in the form of a code that you type in to access your account, or a link to access your account
- From there, reset your password as instructed
And you’re in!
