When you upload a new TikTok, there are a series of formats and content types available for you to choose from.

You can upload existing video clips and turn those clips into a seamless video, or you can film something unique and original within the app. You can even upload photos which you then tie together with the right audio, with a clean transition between images on the screen, and with a caption and text that adds context to your images.

But how do you switch to photo mode?

3 Steps to Take a Photo on TikTok

  1. Click on the giant plus sign in the centre at the bottom of your TikTok home screen
  2. Above the big white capture button, you will see a few scrollable options. Make sure that ‘Photo’ is highlighted, so that hitting the capture button takes a photo rather than starting a video
  3. Once you’re happy with the photo, you can proceed to the next stage of the editing process

How to Upload Photos to TikTok

If you’ve already got photos on your device that you want to upload to TikTok and turn into a TikTok video, follow step one as above and then click on the ‘Upload’ button with the small photo preview screen, to the right of the big white capture button.

This will open a grid of your device photos. Tap in the top right hand corner of each photo that you want to upload, to select it.

Once your selection is complete, you can click ‘Next’ and choose the right audio and other details for your TikTok.

Are Photos as Good as Videos on TikTok?

On TikTok, the best content combines the topic of interest with engaging details.

TikTok allows users and creators to turn a selection of photos into a seamless slideshow, replicating the format of a video with complimenting sound or audio, and other details.

We hope this guide helps you to recognise the value of photo mode and how to use it on TikTok!
