Managing comments during a TikTok Live is the job of creators and moderators.
This management job involves everything from sharing warnings regarding potential harassment, to muting comments and reporting or filtering comments which are deemed inappropriate.
Moderators can also pin comments to the top of the chat box if they are particularly valuable or provide a good direction in conversation, and they can automatically block comments that contain specific keywords.
Some of these management tactics can be put in place before the Live begins, so as to help filter out comments that contain blocked words.
How to Delete Comments
To delete a comment that appears, the creator or moderator simply needs to press and hold on a comment, and it is deleted.
Only those with approval from the creator have this control. Comments cannot be deleted by anyone else (except the poster who can delete their own comments).
How to Turn off All Comments
Comments can be completely turned off before a Live starts or can be sent to a moderator filter which means that they have to be approved before they become visible to other followers.
If the content is particularly divisive or you are worried about the comments that a Live might attract, then this kind of filter is a good way to manage and control what others see in light of your content.
