If you like a story on Instagram, then the user who posted it will be able to see your interaction as a little love heart whenever they look at the stats for each story that they post.

With Instagram removing the ability to see which users have viewed and watched a story, generally the “like” is the only way to see which users have definitely engaged with your content – making it a valuable piece of information for brands, creators, and personal account managers alike.

But how exactly do you like an Instagram story? Well, it couldn’t really be easier.

3 Steps to Like an Instagram Story

  1. To view a user’s story, click on their profile picture – either from the top carousel on your home screen, or directly from their profile or your DM inbox chat with them
  2. Once you find a story update that you want to like, click on the little white heart outline in the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  3. This heart will go red, indicating that you have “liked” their story

And the rest is history! This is a great way to engage with your friends and connections and show them that you really do care about what they post!
