Instagram has many great features that allow you to share your pictures and videos with the world, including multiple formats, like standard posts and stories, and photo and video enhancement features, like filters. One popular feature many people love is the ability to create a college. However, figuring out if you are new to the application can be challenging. If you are trying to make a collage and need help, keep reading while we provide a step-by-step guide. We’ll also provide tips and tricks to help you have a great experience.
Before You Begin
Before you begin, it’s important to note that while you can highlight your Instagram stories, including those with a collage, using the web browser on your desktop or laptop computer, you won’t be able to create an Instagram story on one. You can only create Instagram stories using the Instagram app on your smartphone. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it for free using the Apple App Store(iPhone), or the Google Play Store (Android) before you continue.
Making a Collage on Instagram Story
1. Log In
To make a collage on Instagram Story, you will first need to log in to your account.
2. Tap “Your story”
Once you log into Instagram, at the top left of the page, just under the word Instagram, you should see your profile picture with “Your story” below it. Tapping the image will get you started creating your Instagram Story.
3. Select Camera View
If you are starting a new Instagram story
If it has been at least 24 hours since you created a story, tapping your profile image should bring up your camera view.
If you already have an Instagram Story running and want to add to it.
If you already have a story running, you will see it when you tap the button. If so, you must click your profile picture again, which you should see in the top left corner. Once you click it, it should take you to a collection of images on your phone, with the top left image being your camera. Select the camera to get into the camera view.
4. Select Layout
When in camera view, you should see several options running down the left side of your screen. The options will appear as images with a down arrow below them. You can choose the layout option directly or tap the down arrow to bring up more options, which will label each option with text so you can be sure you are selecting the right one.
5. Select the Layout You Want
When you select the layout option, another menu will appear under the original layout symbol. This layout will have another layout symbol with a drop-down arrow below it. Tapping the new layout symbol will bring up several layout options to create a collage of images. Each choice will show how users who view your story will see the pictures, so select the one you like best.
6. Choose Your Images
Once you select the layout you want to use, the screen will change to reflect your choice, and it will be time to select the images you want to use. You can also take new pictures if you like. You will choose one photograph at a time, and the current selection will have the camera view. Snap a picture to fill the position or add one from your phone by selecting your phone images at the bottom left of your screen.
7. Complete your Layout
Once you snap or select an image for the first selection, the app will continue through the process by moving to the next image in the layout, and you should see the camera view in that position with the image you selected in the last step still in the first position. Continue by taking or selecting a second picture the same way and repeat the process until you have all of the images for your layout.
8. Make Changes
If you chose the wrong image on your phone or one of the pictures you snap doesn’t come out right, you can change any image in the layout at any time while creating it by tapping on the incorrect image. Doing so will cause a trash can image to appear and clicking that will delete the image so you can replace it. Unfortunately, the app will move any images you selected after this one up, and the empty spot will be at the end, so you must add the photos in the order that you want them to appear.
9. Accept Layout
When all of the images you want to present to your followers are in your layout and in the right order, you can accept them by clicking on the large checkmark appearing when the layout is full. If you don’t like what you see, you can delete the entire layout and start over by clicking the large X at the top left of your screen. Once you select the checkmark, your collage will be live on Instagram Stories for 24 hours.
