Playlists are often reserved for music platforms and for those who like to create different soundscapes to suit their mood, activities, or something they are doing.

But did you know that TikTok also enables the creation of playlists – giving creators the power to segment their videos into different playlists based on what they are about, whether they’re original or reaction videos, and the kind of content they are made of?

Even if you did already know about the use of playlists on TikTok, the chances are that you aren’t 100% sure how to create them – which is where this article comes in.

Why Use Playlists on TikTok?

There are countless ways in which you can use playlists as a creator to help organise your content.

If, for example, you share guides and how-to’s with your followers, then you can segment these into different themed playlists and different topics.

Fitness instructors could similarly use playlists to compartmentalise their TikTok’s into different types of exercise and workout, while fashion and beauty creators could create playlists for make-up guides, fashion hauls, and more.

Suffice to say, playlists present benefits both to you as a creator and to your followers – making it easy for both parties to quickly find the content that they’re looking for / that appeals to them.

How to Access Playlists

If as a user you are wondering how playlists impact your experience, the main thing to note is that playlists make your browsing experience better.

Opening a playlist will show you all the TikTok’s that a creator has banded together into the same category. You can browse the watch the ones you want by selecting them or watch one and then automatically swipe through to the next video in the playlist.

4 Steps to Make a Playlist

Now we know a bit more about why playlists are so popular and how to access them from a user perspective, it’s time to find out how to make one.

NOTE: This can be done from your profile page or from a video that you have selected. The following steps start from your profile page – but keep reading if you want to know how to add specific videos to a playlist from the full screen view.

  1. Head to your profile page on TikTok and select ‘Sort Your Videos Into Playlists’
  2. Create a name a new playlist
  3. Select the videos that you want to add, noting that you can only add each video to one playlist
  4. Reorder videos as they appear in your playlist, as much or as little as you need to

As videos are added to your TikTok, or if you want to create a new playlist from a single video, you simply need to press and hold on the video or click the ‘Share’ button and ‘Add to Playlist’.

From here, you will be taken through the same steps of creating and naming a playlist, before adding more videos to it.

We hope this helps! Categorising your TikTok videos into playlists is a great way of cleaning up your profile and making it easier for your followers to find the content that they want to see.
