Do you have an iPhone or device that captures live photos?

If so, then you will already know that the benefit of these live photos is the added few seconds of motion, which add context to your photos and truly capture your memories and moments.

But what happens when you go to post these live images on Instagram?

Going through the usual photo upload channel will allow you to share your photo; however, the few seconds that have been captured along with the photo itself are lost.

Which is where this article comes in. Keep reading for our tips on ensuring that every second of your memories are captured and shared on Instagram for all your followers to see and enjoy.

How to Add Live Photos As a Video

This is an action that takes place away from Instagram, saving your live photo as a video and then going through the usual channels to upload a video to Instagram.

With the live photo open on your device, click on the menu button along the top of the screen and select ‘Save as Video’. Rather than requiring any extra action to unlock the full range of movement either side of the snapshot, this saves the full clip as a video.

On Instagram, you can now add the video to your page as you normally would.

How to Add Live Photos As a Boomerang

  1. Open Instagram and head to your profile page. Select the plus sign in the square box along the top of the screen and click ‘Story’

  4. Share the Boomerang to your Instagram story

TOP TIP: If you’re more of a reel sharer than a Boomerang user, you will find that adding any live photo to your reel will automatically unlock the full range of motion in a short clip. This also adds the sound to accompany your live photo, whereas a Boomerang is silent.
