TikTok’s story feature replicates that found on Instagram and Facebook, in that it allows users to post updates which remain linked to their profile for 24 hours before disappearing.

An engaging alternative to a full video, stories are often more organic and off-the-cuff in terms of their content and delivery and are a fun way to update followers on where you are or what you’re doing.

However, TikTok stories do boast a couple of additional features that set them apart from other social media apps…

A Guide to TikTok Stories

Stories on TikTok are quick and easily digestible pieces of content. They are viewed by clicking on the profile picture of a user, with a blue circle around their profile picture indicating a recent story update.

The feature that makes TikTok stories stand apart from other social platforms is the fact that users can comment on or react to the story – with this engagement public to other viewers.

You will often see creators and budding influencers using stories as a way to stay engaged with their audience. So, how do you post a story?

3 Steps to Post a TikTok Story

  1. Navigate to your profile on TikTok
  2. Click on the little blue plus sign in the bottom corner your profile picture
  3. Select the videos or photos you want to upload and then tap ‘Your Story’ at the bottom of the screen when you are ready to post

Alternatively, you can click on the large plus sign button in the centre at the bottom of your home screen, and then select ‘Story’ from the carousel of post options. This will turn the camera capture button blue, to coincide with the story icon.

A Few Editing / Creative Notes…

  • You can select multiple video clips and photos for your story by first ticking the ‘Select Multiple’ box at the bottom of the image grid on the upload page
  • Story posts can be edited in the same way as normal TikTok videos, adding captions and filters, sound, and more

We hope this helps! Stories are a fun way to engage your followers and give them an insight into your life and routine, with posts which last just 24 hours.
