How to Report a Hacked Instagram Account
If your Instagram account has been hacked, then you need to report it to Instagram as soon as possible – especially if the hack means that you can no longer access the account to increase and enhance its security.
You can do this by heading to the Instagram Support webpage, upon which Instagram will ask you to explain the issue.
Under the question ‘Why can’t you get into your account?’, select the box which reads ‘My account was hacked’.
From here, Instagram will ask you to enter your username, email address, or phone number in order to identify the correct account, then take you through the steps to confirm your identity as the account holder.
In most cases, your access to your account will be restored and you will be asked to create a new password. It is also important to add extra verification measures at this stage to protect your account from being hacked again in the future. As well as this, we highly recommend heading into your settings to see which devices have access to your account, and removing any that you don’t recognise and actively use yourself. This will enforce a complete logout on those devices, leaving you in sole control of your account again.
