Recover Deleted Messages via Back Up
The TikTok backup system is designed to help restore access to data which has been lost.
All data from your account can be requested via your settings, compiling all messages and other data into a zip file which should be with you within four days of request.
Having said that, the constant exchange of data means that old data is soon lost to newer messages and interactions – so you may struggle to find lost conversations from months ago.
Ask the Other Member of the Chat
This will generally only work if the recipient of the message is a friend or connection who you have a positive relationship with. In other words, if you’re looking for evidence of harassment, this option won’t work.
Asking the other member of the chat for a screenshot, or for them to resend the lost message, is generally the easiest way to recover messages you’ve lost.
NOTE: Even if you delete a message from your own inbox, it will still remain in their message history.
