This feature is called ‘Memories’ and invites users to share these posts alongside current updates or as standalone nostalgic pieces of content to share with friends and family.
With Facebook also now owning Instagram, it seems obvious that the same would be possible across both platforms. But is this the case?
Yes – to some extent at least!
While Instagram doesn’t present memories in quite the same way as Facebook does, bringing them to the forefront of your newsfeed whenever you log onto the app, you can jump into your Stories Archive and see which stories you posted on Instagram on the same day any number of years earlier.
To do this, follow these simple steps…
3 Simple Steps To Find Story Memories
- Navigate to your profile page then select the menu button in the top right hand corner, indicated by the three horizontal lines
- Select ‘Archive’
- Make sure that the top dropdown shows ‘Stories Archive’
Once you’re in your Stories Archive, you should be able to see every story that you have posted on Instagram and the date on which it was shared.
Underneath the main grid, a feature labelled ‘Memories’ shows you if any stories were posted on the current date, telling you just how many years ago it first appeared.
And voila! A trip down memory lane, courtesy of Instagram. And of course, what you do with those memories, whether you share them or not, is completely up to you!
