How to Share Instagram Story to Facebook Story

For those of you who don’t know, Instagram and Facebook are now owned by the same parent company – formerly known simply as Facebook, but now called Meta.

What this shared ownership means is that sharing content across the two platforms has never been easier – with this article looking specifically at how to share an Instagram Story as a simultaneous Facebook Story.

Sharing an Existing Instagram Story to Facebook

If you’ve already posted your story on Instagram and want to share it to Facebook as well, then this is the section for you.

1. Open the story that you want to share on Instagram, by clicking on your profile picture and scrolling through to the right story
2. Click on the three buttons with the caption ‘More’ along the bottom of the screen in the bottom right hand corner
3. Click on ‘Story Settings’
4. At the bottom of this settings menu is an option to ‘Share Your Story to Facebook’. Ensure that this toggle is switched on and watch as your story heads straight on over to Facebook!

Setting Instagram Stories to Automatically Share to Facebook

If you want to change your settings for the future so that any Instagram stories you create automatically share as a Facebook story, then keep reading!

1. Head to your profile page and click on the menu button in the top right hand corner, indicated by the three horizontal lines
2. Click on ‘Settings and Privacy’
3. Scroll down to the section on Interactions, and click on ‘Sharing and Remixes’
4. This will open up a menu of options which all revolve around sharing content. Under the section ‘Where you Share Your Story outside Instagram’ make sure that the Facebook toggle is on!

NOTE: At the bottom of this menu you can double check which Facebook profile your story will share to, to ensure that any automatic story share will be seen on the right profile.
