Many TikTok users don’t realise that they can speed up the playback speed of any TikTok video easily and within just a couple of clicks – selecting a speed which ranges from normal speed to 1.5 or even double speed. This doesn’t just affect the speed of the visual but also the audio song or voiceover, essentially playing the video on fast forward for browser convenience.

You can even slow a video down to half speed if you want – ideal for learning dance routines and working out exactly how to join a trending challenge or routine.

4 Steps to Speed Up a TikTok Video

1. Find the video that you want to speed up
2. Click on the sweeping arrow which indicates the share button
3. Scroll along the carousel of grey action buttons at the bottom of the pop up menu, until you find ‘Playback Speed’
4. Another pop up menu will display four options. The standard speed is labelled as ‘Normal’, but you can select 1.5x to speed the video up by 50%, or 2x to double the speed of the video

And there you have it! This will only apply to the video that you are watching, so if you want to use this feature on multiple videos then you will need to change the playback speed on each video individually.
