Wondering how to tag users in videos that they appear in on your TikTok?
Luckily, TikTok doesn’t deviate from any of the other social media apps that facilitate and enable tagging – with the trusty @ symbol used to connect a friend’s account or another user’s account with your content.
Why Tag People in Your Videos?
One of the most common reasons for tagging another user is to show followers who is in your video with you. If your connection is also looking to increase their following, then this can help to drive more users towards their page – for example, if you have created a collaboration post to help boost their visibility.
Other reasons for tagging users include crediting original creators, and creating a challenge chain whereby you nominate someone else to create their own version of a challenge or trend next.
Where Does the Tag Appear?
When you want to tag a user in your TikTok, you need to add the @ symbol and their username to the caption underneath the video.
Tags do not appear on the video but rather in the caption, making this your only option on TikTok.
3 Steps to Tag Someone in a Video
- Create your TikTok as normal and move through the editing process until you reach the final caption editing screen
- Underneath the caption box, click on the ‘@Mention’ box to bring up a user search bar. Add any users who you want to add to your TikTok video. You have a maximum of 4,000 characters to play with in your caption, so you can really make the most of it!
- Post the video with all your chosen users selected and tagged
Followers and those who see your video will be able to click on the tag and navigate straight to the tagged user’s own profile. This is great for enhancing visibility for them and for building a TikTok community – or simply for letting users know where you got the idea for a challenge or video from!
We hope this helps!
