The audio and soundscape of your TikTok video can instantly make it better and more engaging – connecting it with trending sounds or adding context through the addition of background music.
With TikTok videos so effortlessly professional, sound is one of the components that we have come to expect from a good and high quality video. With that said, how do you add sound to a TikTok – and how do you identify the best sound for your video?
Why Add Sound to a TikTok Video?
Sound is what makes a TikTok engaging. It sets the scene and mood of the video and can often help a video to go viral by using trending music and audio clips.
Sound is also critical for engagement, especially if you are jumping onto one of the many trends that use sounds and audio clips to boost visibility.
How to Add Sound
Have you ever noticed that when you upload a video or series of pictures to TikTok, the app automatically suggests songs, sounds, and audio clips that it thinks might compliment your footage?
If you are happy with the suggestion, then you can push forward to the final editing screen with ease. If not, you can easily change the sound by clicking on the title of the song or clip at the top of your screen.
This will open a pop up box with Recommended sounds, Favourite sounds that you’ve liked in the past, Recent sounds that you’ve used recently, and a selection of other songs and sounds.
The magnifying glass icon in the top right corner of the pop up box invites you to search for a song or sound that best suits your content.
What this tells us is that there are a multitude of different ways of using sounds on TikTok.
All that’s left to do now is choose your video clips, select your photos, and build a TikTok that’s worthy of one of the many trending songs and sounds on the app.
