What Does Active Today Mean on Instagram?
When you open your Instagram inbox, you will see a small grey line of text under the username of each account that you have interacted with. This grey line of text will tell you when the user was last “Active” – displaying anything from a number of minutes or hours to a few days or more.
The purpose of this is to let you know when the user was last active on Instagram.
Crucially, if the text reads ‘Active Today’ the user was last seen more than 8 hours ago, but fewer than 24 hours ago.
Anything under 8 hours is depicted in hours and minutes, while anything more than 24 hours will read as ‘Active Yesterday’.
So, if they were ‘Active Today’ but you sent them a message just 2 short hours ago, the chances are that they simply haven’t seen it yet – and they’re not ignoring you intentionally!
