TikTok is a whole new world of acronyms and abbreviations for users of all ages – with something to learn for everyone, including the youngest Gen Z users.
AS is one such abbreviation that many younger users may not be familiar with, particularly once you understand a little more about what it’s about.
But more on that in a moment.
First and foremost, AS stands for Adult Swim. It’s a block of programs on Cartoon Network which airs late and night and is compiled of all the iconic 00’s shows which are considered too rude for children’s programming during the day.
What Is Adult Swim?
Adult Swim is the name of the programming block.
It features programs like Family Guy, American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, and Rick and Morty.
But that’s not the end of this article – because, as avid users will know, TikTok loves to add its own spin to everything.
Where Does TikTok Come In?
Adult Swim, otherwise known as AS, has taken the world of TikTok by storm by encompassing a trend of creating users’ own bumper content before and after AS programming.
These little chunks of content are generally wholesome and show someone going about their day while ignoring the camera. It could be a user swimming across the shot, a car driving, or someone doing something mundane and every day. Whatever it is, the aim of the AS trend is to pay homage to, and mark a nod towards, the bumper shots which precede and follow classic AS programs.
With that in mind, have you seen some of these bumper shots, or ‘bumps’ on TV or on TikTok during your recent browsing?
