We’re throwing it back a few decades with this article – because ‘Bop’ on TikTok means exactly what you think it means.
Or at least, one of its definitions does!
A word that originates from a time well before TikTok and other social media platforms were born, ‘Bop’ is a term that has long been used to refer to a popular song or a dance anthem that makes you “bop” along while listening to it. It’s catchy, bold, and fun to listen to.
But that’s not the only definition of the word.
‘Bop’ on TikTok has a second meaning, thanks to the redefinition created and shared by Gen Z users. This second meaning refers to a ‘Bop’ as a person who posts their body on the internet a lot, and who looks to “get around” with anyone and everyone. A ‘Bop’ by this definition is a body confident, even promiscuous individual, who shares lots of images and videos of themselves.
Not quite the wholesome version of Bop that was born several decades ago!
