You won’t be surprised to learn that ‘Forward’ is an action which allows users to jump forward to the next piece of content.
On Instagram, this refers specifically to Instagram stories – with forward specifying the action via which users can skip to the next story posted by a user.
Alternatively, if you want to bypass their stories completely and move onto the next user, you can do so via a slightly different action – again, forwarding to the next stream of content.
How to Forward On The Same User’s Content
When viewing a user’s story, you can see how many different pieces of content there are by the number of segments shown across the top of the screen.
If you don’t want to view a specific story but want to see what else they have posted, you can forward to the next segment by tapping on the right hand side of the screen. This will skip you forward to the next segment immediately.
How to Forward to The Next User’s Story
If you are uninterested in viewing the entire story shared by a specific user, then you can skip forward to the next user and bypass all of their content.
You do this by first opening their story and then swiping left. This will allow you to skip over that user’s story, taking you directly into the story stream of the next user.
You can forward, skip, and bypass as many stories as you want to, either by clicking through the individual updates from a user or by swiping to the next user.
