O45 is just one example of a new code, which replaces standard letters with a number.
In short, the letter ‘o’, followed by a number, is being seen across Instagram profiles notes as a way of adding a secret initial or hidden message for followers in the know.
Which initial you opt for depends on what you are trying to communicate. In this instance, o45 corresponds to the letter ‘J’.
Why Was This Code Created?
The origin and purpose of the code rather depends on who you ask.
It seems as though many users who understand this code are using it to add the initial of their crush or a love interest to their profile notes, or even demonstrating their loyalty to a favourite celebrity or best friend.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of rhyme or reason behind the rest of the alphabet – which makes uncovering the code difficult without access to the full reference list.
To share a few other example, o23 is ‘S’ and o12 is ‘D’, while o43 is ‘E’.
