Instagram was designed to support and facilitate engagement – which means that when something stands in the way of you posting a comment, it can be incredibly annoying and potentially even damaging to your reputation.
The most common reason why users will find themselves unable to share a comment on Instagram is that they have hit their limit for the day.
Instagram has a number of limits in place which are designed to ensure you’re not a spam account holder or robot. These limits are posed as a cap on the number of actions you can make in a period of time, for example limiting the number of daily comments on Instagram to around 180 per user.
But this isn’t the only reason why you may not be able to comment on Instagram.
You’ve Hit the Instagram Limit
The most likely issue is an excess of comments, hashtags, user tags, or duplicate comments.
Instagram does not like any activity which seems over the top, including sharing more than 30 hashtags in a single comment, sharing the same comment over and over again, or tagging more than 5 other users in a comment. And then there’s the big limit, which caps your ability to comment more than 180 times in a single day.
Hitting any of these limits will mean that your account is suspended from commenting, which could be why you are struggling to post your opinion under the latest post or reel that you’ve seen!
You’ve Violated Instagram Guidelines
Of course, it could have nothing to do with how many comments you’ve shared, but more the content of those comments. There are topics and keywords that are banned on Instagram, with regulators keeping a close eye on occasions when those words are used and taking action again the authors.
If Instagram finds that you have violated any community guidelines, then you will be unable to comment for a period of 14 days. Usually you will receive a warning that this is going to happen and will then have to wait out the cooling period – or appeal against the ban.
The Poster Has Blocked You
Finally, there is always a chance that you’ve been blocked or restricted by the original creator of the post that you want to comment on. If this is the case, you will be unable to comment on that particular piece of content.
The best way to confirm this is to try sharing the same comment from another account. If it works, then you know that your original account has been blocked or restricted.
All of these reasons could explain why you are unable to share your input on a post. We hope this helps – and if you can’t wait it out, then you can always screenshot the post and share your comments with friends via a DM or WhatsApp!
