When you loop something, you essentially set it to replay from the beginning in such a way that the watcher or audience doesn’t even realise.
This is a good way to turn a small clip or section of audio into a longer piece of music, with professional looping virtually seamless in the way it moves from the end of a song to the beginning again.
On TikTok specifically, looping music can help creators to find and select a piece of music to accompany their video, that’s both long enough and suitable for the footage. Keep reading for our guide to looping music like a pro!
3 Steps to Loop Music on TikTok
- Upload your video to TikTok and then click on the ‘Add Sound’ icon to select the music you want to play
- Open the editing page and select ‘Effects’. Click on the ‘Time’ heading
- Select the portion of music that you want to loop and then click ‘Repeat’
Once saved, this will create a loop so that as soon as the audio clip has finished playing, it will instantly start again from the beginning.
Alternatively, you can loop music using a third party app outside of TikTok – with more songs available and a greater array of ways in which you can cut, clip, and stick seconds of audio together. Having said that, TikTok does not have a licence for, or allow, certain songs, meaning that you will need to check the viability of any song you edit away from the app, before uploading it to your video.
Perhaps the most important thing to note here is the importance of that final note, and where the clip starts up again. Ideally, and to create a professional loop, you want to choose music or a song that seamlessly transitions back to the beginning, with a segway that is barely noticeable.
This is best achieved with practice – and what better place to leave you and this blog than with our encouragement to go off and practice looping your favourite tunes!
