TikTok is committed to its age restrictions, and only allows users aged 13 or above to create profiles and use the platform to establish some kind of presence on the app. With this comes a plethora of settings and controls that the platform encourages users to familiarise themselves with, in an attempt to keep users – particularly younger users – as safe as possible on TikTok.
But for summer 2025, TikTok has made a new announcement that’s geared towards making the social media platform even more accessible and engaging to young people – and their parents!
What’s New?
TikTok has revealed that over the summer, it will host a kind of in-app summer camp, that aims to promote a series of activities guided by popular creators.Â
The four spotlight activities that are being promoted on the app are:
- Slime creation
- Creating a miniature beach scene
- Building a telescope
- Making firefly lanterns
The diversity seeks to inspire creativity and attract as many users as possible, with guided tutorials and an opportunity to share progress.
And that’s not all. Within these activities, parents in particular will have the chance to learn more about online safety for their children. It’s being used as an opportunity to start conversations about safe online usage, so parents know more about their child’s understanding of and relationship with social media.Â
For creators, getting involved in these kinds of activities is another great way to promote engagement and earn views, complimenting a bridged approach to organic growth and strategic purchased packages of TikTok likes and comments.
