With so much terminology floating around the social media sphere, it’s easy to assume that all of the terms and words used refer to different things.
However, we are here to tell you that your Facebook feed, your Facebook profile, and your Facebook timeline are all the same things.
Your Facebook timeline essentially contains all of your posting activity, posts shared by other friends, and everything you have been tagged in (and that you have approved) in date order. While you can pin specific things to top of your timeline, typically the most recent posts and activities sit at the top of your timeline with past events listed underneath.
3 Steps to Navigate to Your Facebook Timeline
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook app
- Click on your name at the top of the menu
- Scroll down, below your friends content block and ‘What’s on Your Mind’ text box, to reach the top of your timeline
The further down your profile you scroll, the more you will notice time passing. The posts and updates that appear near the top of your profile timeline are the most recent, while those further down the list are older.
How to View Your Full Facebook Activity Log
While your Facebook timeline is a collection of posts on your profile or wall, including photos, your own updates, and messages shared to your profile from friends and other users, this timeline does not include comments and actions that you have taken on other pages away from your own profile.
To find this information and to view a full log of your activity in date order, you need to head to your Facebook Activity Log.
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner and tap your name at the top of the screen to open your profile
- Select the button with the three dots underneath your profile picture
- Click on ‘Activity Log’
Your Activity Log invites you to view all your activity on Facebook – broken down by various filters and headings. This is a great place to see everything you have done on Facebook, which groups you have engaged with and which friends you have interacted with the most.
Just as Facebook uses this data and activity information to track your behaviour and tailor your suggested posts, friends, and ads, you can also keep track of your timeline and activity to understand how Facebook benefits you as a user.
