TikTok lends itself to the creation of unique and memorable content, giving users a comprehensive editing platform with space to add sound, elongate their video clips, apply transition trends and layers to their content, and transform text into voiceover and vice versa.
Now, you might think that with a system as all-encompassing as that, adding two sounds would be easy.
After all, it’s very likely that you might want to combine a backing track with a voiceover, or layer two different sounds to add context to your video.
But that’s where TikTok gets a little tricky.
There is one very easy way of achieving two sounds on TikTok – with the app even allowing you to tailor and adjust the balance of volume to optimise the content. But in order to do this, you need to start by working with a video that has one of the two sounds already attached to it.
Here’s what we mean – and how to make it work for you.
Building Two Sounds via an Existing Video Clip
The easiest way to layer two sounds onto your video is to start with a video that has the voiceover or sound you want, and then add a song or extra audio into the mix is the TikTok editing platform.
- Record your video on your device with sound
- Head to the TikTok app and click on the large plus sign in the centre at the bottom of the screen
- Tap ‘Upload’ to the right hand side of the capture button
- Upload your video (complete with sound)
- Click on the ‘Add Sound’ button at the top of the screen and choose the right background sound or song for your TikTok video
- Tap on the ‘Volume’ icon in the bottom right hand corner of the sound selection pop up
- You will see two volume bars – one labelled ‘Original Sound’ and the other labelled ‘Added Sound’. You can drag and adjust these until you hit the right balance, and then move into editing the visual of your video until you’re ready to post!
Adding Two Original Sounds to Your TikTok
If your original video is compiled of photos or video clips that don’t have sound, then you need to access editing which lets you layer two sounds on top of each other.
One way to do this is to upload the visual content and add a sound, before downloading the video to your device without posting it.
Once the content is saved on your device, you can reupload it to TikTok and add another sound, thereby creating the balance that you wanted. This will work in the same way as the above option of uploading a video with sound already attached.
Alternatively, you can use third party apps to add different sounds before uploading the content to TikTok for final edits and posting.
We hope this guide helps you to create original, high quality TikTok videos that your followers will love!
