Facebook status updates are no restricted to simple statements. From adding emojis to linking specific emotions, songs, photos, and tagging friends and places, Facebook users can access a plethora of ways to personalise their status update and drive engagement.
One of the most popular components of a modern status update is the ability to ask for recommendations. Here’s how to do it in just a few simple steps…
5 Steps to Request Recommendations in Your Status
- Click on the ‘What’s on Your Mind’ box from your homepage feed or your profile
- Underneath the text box, select the ‘Feeling/Activity’ option
- Click on the ‘Activities’ header at the top of the screen
- Select the box which reads ‘Looking For…’
- Scroll down the multitude of options that can link with your ‘Looking For…’ heading – and which pull attention towards the kinds of recommendations that you are seeking
Once you find the right match for your status post, click on it to reopen the text box.
You will notice that your status will now be precluded by the heading you just created – for example ‘YOUR NAME is looking for travel recommendations’.
Adding text below will help you to add further context to your request for recommendations, while this header ensures that friends and followers are quickly informed of what you need and how they can help you.
Using this tool is a great way to frame and ignite a specific type of engagement in the comments beneath your Facebook update. And it doesn’t have to be restricted to recommendations. Other options include celebratory headings, ‘Thinking About…’ headings, and more.
