As an intuitive and user friendly platform, Facebook is designed to be as accessible as possible for all users.
When you first open and set up your account, Facebook will automatically default its language setting to that which is used across your entire device. If your device language is set to English then Facebook will assume that this is the language you want to use on the platform; if the device is set to French, Italian, or another language, the same is true.
But that doesn’t mean you have to stick with your device language. In fact, changing Facebook’s language setting couldn’t be easier…
5 Steps to Change Language Setting on Facebook
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook app
- Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
- Tap ‘Language and Region’
- Select the top menu option, titled ‘Language for Buttons, Titles, and Other Text from Facebook’
If you haven’t already set a preferred language for Facebook on your device, then you will be taken to an App Language page. This will invite you to open your device settings and add the language that you wish to view Facebook in.
NOTE: The language that you use across your device will already be listed as the default option. You need to add additional languages here in order to select them for Facebook browsing.
5. Once you have added another language, you then need to select your Facebook language from your device settings
And voila! Though it may be a multi-step process that takes you away from the Facebook app in search of your chosen language, in reality this process shouldn’t take very long. And once complete, you will find that you can browse Facebook in a different language!
