While some platforms simply use birthday information to confirm age, on Facebook all of your friends will be notified about your birthday – and encouraged to share good wishes with you via a direct message or a post on your profile feed.
This plays into the foundation of Facebook as a highly sociable platform. Personal information isn’t just there to let Facebook know more about you – it also plays on the connections you have with other users and friends.
With that said, how do you make sure that your birthday is correct on Facebook – and that you will receive birthday wishes on the right day?
5 Steps to Change Your Birthday
- Click on the circular version of your profile picture in the bottom right hand corner of your screen
- Tap ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
- Select ‘See More in Accounts Centre’
- Tap ‘Personal Details’
- Select your Date of Birth from the list of personal details to open the editing page
If your date of birth is incorrect or needs changing, tap on ‘Edit’ and select the correct date.
NOTE: If you also have an Instagram account which is connected to your Facebook, changing your birthday on Facebook will transfer the information over to Instagram as well.
And voila! It’s as simple as that.
