If you’re trying to forge a name for yourself on TikTok and want your posts to become popular and maybe even viral, then everything needs to be just right.
That includes, but is not limited to, great visuals, the right song choice, and a compelling caption which balances hashtags with an engaging quote or phrase to bring your TikTok to life.
So, what do you do if you complete and share a TikTok, only to find it needs a few edits post-sharing?
Is it possible to dive into a shared TikTok and make changes?
Is it Possible to Edit a TikTok After Posting?
Unfortunately, the short answer to this is no.
While there are shortcuts you can take to ensure a quick process of deleting and re-uploading your TikTok, it is not possible to edit a TikTok that you have shared.
That’s why proofreading and checking your TikTok before posting is so important.
How to Edit a TikTok You’ve Posted
The only way to edit a TikTok you’ve posted is to save the TikTok as a video and then delete the original posting. You can reupload the video from your device camera roll, make the necessary edits, and repost it – hopefully before any of your followers realise or start engaging with the wrong version.
NOTE: If you save the TikTok as a video, this will retain all the edits you did previously. You will simply need to add the right sound and redo the caption. This does however mean that if you want to edit the visual aesthetic or format of the TikTok, you will probably need to start again from scratch.
We hope this helps! And more than that, we hope it encourages you to check your TikTok videos and captions before posting, to minimise the risk of posting something that will then require edits!
