It is impossible to sign up for and log into a Facebook account without a valid email address. However, with so many users accessing the platform via apps which stay logged in for years on end, opening via Face ID rather than requiring an email and password, it’s not uncommon for users to forget which email they used to log into Facebook.
Luckily, there is a way of not just finding the email that you use for Facebook, but also changing and updating it in line with the inbox you have best access to.
In this article, we’re telling you how to find – and change – your email address on Facebook.
3 Steps to Find Your Email Address
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner, and select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
- Click on the Accounts Centre block to access your Meta Accounts Centre, then select ‘Personal Details’ from the menu
- Under the Personal Details heading, click on ‘Contact Info’
This is where you will find both the email addresses and contact numbers that are linked to your account.
How to Change or Update Your Email Address on Facebook
Before we share the process of changing your email address, let’s first consider why it’s important to keep this email address and contact information up to date.
While you may not regularly use your email address to log into Facebook, especially if you use an app on a personal device, there are times when you will need your email. For example, if you need to access Facebook on a new device, or if you find yourself locked out of your account and need to request support or a replacement password.
All of these circumstances require Facebook to send you a direct verification email – which is why you need to not just know the email address but have full access to the inbox.
If, after following the steps outlined in the previous section, you find that the connected email address is not one that you regularly use, you can change it by selecting the blue ‘Add New Contact’ button at the bottom of the Contact Info page.
Once you’ve added a new email address, make sure that this is set as your default email for account recovery – streamlining the process of unlocking your account in the event of an issue.
And voila! A quick and easy way to find – and change – your email address on Facebook. We hope this helps!
