If there’s one thing that’s sure to make your next TikTok stand out, it’s a voice effect.
These effects take your voice and pass it through a filter, changing its tone and decibel to mimic that of a robot, a chipmunk, a toddler, or something else entirely.
Voice effects are designed to make TikTok’s more immersive and often more compelling, adding a voice for comic or dramatic effect, or to add context to your topic. But how do you access them and how do you go about adding them to your TikTok content?
5 Steps to Add a Voice Effect to Your TikTok
- Open TikTok, click on the plus sign in the central panel along the bottom of your screen, and record your video – sound and visual
- Click on ‘Edit’ at the top of the menu which runs down the right hand side of the screen
- Along the bottom under your footage reel, you will see a button that says ‘Voice Effects’. Click on this (NOTE: You have to have the footage reel selected in order for this option to be available, so be sure to click in the reel and border it with a thick white line)
- Test the different voice effects by selecting them and seeing how they sound
- Once you’re happy with your selection, click on the exit button which will take you back to the TikTok edit screen
And there you have it – a quick and easy way to update and enhance your TikTok with an added voice effect. Not only will this help your content to stand out, but it adds weight to your content and helps to build context into the footage.
Of course, if you can’t find the right voice effect in TikTok, there are a series of third party apps you can use to achieve the same effect or unlock new effects. The popularity of TikTok means there are countless external apps which claim to help make TikTok content better – so if you have the time or patience, you can browse these as well.
