With social media an intrinsically sociable place, it can be quite disconcerting when you suddenly lose track of the posts and updates from a friend or someone you have previously engaged a lot with.
If you’ve noticed a lack of updates from a certain user or find that you can no longer send them any direct messages, then you might start wondering if you’ve been blocked on TikTok.
Here’s how to know…
The Main Indicators That You Have Been Blocked
- If searching for a specific username on TikTok brings up no results, then you may have been blocked
- If a user disappears from your ‘Following’ list, or from your ‘Followers’ list. If the user has blocked you, then you won’t be able to find them listed as an account that you follow, or as an account that follows you
- Head to your inbox and find a previous DM conversation stream with the user. If their name has been replaced with ‘Account Not Found’ then this could be a sign that you’ve been blocked
- If you no longer see their content in your feed. There are a number of reasons why this could occur, but being blocked is undoubtedly one of them!
Other Things to Note
Of course, there are other reasons why some of the above signs and indicators may occur.
If a user deletes their entire profile, then many of the same signs will be visible. The key difference here is that they haven’t directly blocked you – rather, they have deleted or deactivated their entire account.
If you’re unsure whether a user has blocked you or deleted their entire account, the best thing you can do is search for their profile or try and view their content using another profile. If everything is as normal when viewing through another profile, then you have almost definitely been blocked.
Being blocked on any social media platform is not a nice feeling. We hope this helps you to work out if and when you have been blocked, so that you can take steps to mend bridges or get over the action and move on!
