Facebook is packed full of groups, from local community groups to interest-based groups and everything in between.
While being part of groups is arguably the best way to stay engaged with things and topics that interest you or are relevant to you, sometimes being a part of a group becomes a little overwhelming. You might move house and no longer need local updates, or perhaps you change your hobbies and decide to try something different.
Whatever the reason, leaving a group is – in most cases – actually much easier than joining the group in the first place. Here’s how to do it.
3 Steps to Leave a Group
- Navigate to the group that you want to leave
- Click on the button underneath the cover photo and group name, that says ‘Joined’
- There are several options available. To leave the group completely, select ‘Leave Group’ – then confirm the action
NOTE: There is also an option to ‘Unfollow’ the group. This means that you will no longer see updates that you haven’t specifically requested, and the group won’t appear in your newsfeed – however, you will remain a part of the group.
We hope this helps. Groups are a great place for engaging directly with other Facebook users – but if you need to leave one, it’s good to know that the process is both quick and easy.
