Have you seen a Facebook post that you want to share with your own friends and connections on the app?
Do you want to spread the word about an event, or share a news post relating to a cause you are interested in or passionate about?
Reposting is a common form of interacting with Facebook content, and lets users share an existing post with or without their own caption. Best of all, reposting on Facebook is quick and can be done in just a few easy steps.
Reposting to Your Own Feed
When you see a post that you want to repost to your own friends and followers, simply navigate to the post and click on the ‘Share’ button in the bottom right hand corner of the post.
At the top of the pop up menu you will see a text box that reads ‘Say Something About This’. If you type something in this box, it will appear as a new caption along the top of the repost, allowing you to add your own thoughts and context to the post.
Tap ‘Share Now’ to share your repost onto your own profile feed.
Reposting to a Friend’s Feed
If you want to share a repost directly to a friend’s profile to bring the original post to their attention, then you need to click the same ‘Share’ button as before but with a few changes…
- Underneath your name at the top of the repost text box, click on the dropdown arrow that reads ‘Feed’
- Select ‘Friend’s Profile’
- Search for the friend whose feed you want to add your repost to
- Once that friend is selected, type your caption as above and share it to their feed
When you reach step two of this process, you will notice other options that allow you to share a post to a group or page that you are part of / that you manage. These additional options all invite you to share your repost with a set and targeted audience, depending on your end goal.
Things to Note About Reposting
If you are keen to repost a piece of content that you have seen on Facebook, then you need to know that only public posts can be reshared.
You can also send reposts by Messenger directly to your friends or copy the link and send it to a friend via a different platform.
However, when we talk about reposting something on Facebook, this tends to mean that you have shared the original post onto your own feed to draw attention to it among your Facebook community. We hope this helps!
