Curious to know which accounts your friends are looking at and following?
Interested in seeing who likes and follows who after a particular party or event?
Wondering if it’s even possible to see who follows who, after a series of security updates that have been rolled out on Instagram in recent years?
Then this is the article for you.
As a general rule, there doesn’t seem to be an ironclad way of knowing and seeing who your friends have started following on Instagram.
Short of going through their “Following” list and looking for new names that you haven’t seen before, the only real way to access this information is through some third party apps. This is because of restrictions in security, which mean that “Following” lists are no longer displayed in chronological order but rather by other criteria.
You can, however, see which accounts you have recently followed – and which accounts have followed you back.
How to See Which Accounts You Have Recently Followed
- Head to your own profile and click on ‘Following’
- At the top of the list of users, select the two arrows to adjust the ‘Sort By’ function
- Select ‘Date Followed: Latest’ to see which accounts are new to your list
How to See Which Accounts Have Recently Followed You
While it is not possible to order your follower accounts in the same way as outlined above, you can return to your notifications to find out which “new follower” announcements appear as the most recent.
These notifications only last for so long so it is not a guaranteed way of identifying all of your recent followers, however, it can shed some light on very new followers and when they appeared on your profile list.
Knowing who follows who on Instagram can be useful if you’re building a branded profile and want to access your competitors’ list of connections and new followers – however, short of keeping tabs on their follower list, this isn’t really possible under the new security regulations.
