For the longest time, TikTok lacked a “watch history” feature. Now that they’ve added it, you can view all the videos you’ve watched by following these simple steps:
- Open TikTok.
- Go to “Profile” and tap the 3 horizontal lines at the top right corner of your screen.
- Select “Settings and privacy.”
- Tap “Activity Center” to view the “Watch history.”
You can also clear your watch history once you’re on the Watch History page. Simply tap the gear icon on the top right corner, tap “Clear history,” and then confirm by tapping “Clear.”
How to View Your TikTok Watch History from Over a Week Ago
Unfortunately, your watch history will only display videos you’ve seen from the last 7 days. That doesn’t mean that you’ll never be able to find an old watched video. To find a video you saw over 7 days ago on TikTok, follow these steps:
- Open TikTok.
- Tap the “Search” tab.
- Use the search bar to type in the title of a video you’ve watched and tap “Search.”
- After the results are shown, click the three horizontal dots beside the search bar.
- Tap the “Filters” option.
- Tap “Watched” under video category.
- Tap “Apply.”
This will display all the videos related to the keywords you typed in the search bar. You don’t need to search for the exact title of the video, so long as you hit all the proper keywords. For example, if a video you wanted to find is titled “how to bake a cheesecake”, looking up the words “bake a cheesecake” will be enough to find the video.
How to See Your Watch History on TikTok
There is a way to look up your entire watch history on the app, but it will take a few days for you to receive the information. You can request data from TikTok, so they can send you a file with all of your account information up until the day of your request. This includes your entire watch history. Here’s how to request it:
- Open TikTok.
- Tap “Profile” on the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Tap the 3 horizontal lines at the top right corner of your screen.
- Select “Settings and privacy.”
- Tap “Account.”
- Select “Download Your Data.”
- Choose whether you want the data to get sent as a TXT or JSON file.
- Tap “Request data” at the bottom of your screen.
It will take up to 4 days for TikTok to send you the data you requested. They will review your request and when it’s been approved, all you need to do is verify your identity before you can finally download the data file. The data file won’t show you information from before you requested the data, so don’t use this method if you want to view your immediate watch history.
Conclusion
Now that TikTok has a dedicated Watch History page, users can see the videos they viewed without having to favorite them or request them through a long process.
Although your watch history is only available for 7 days, there’s a chance that TikTok will increase the time your watch history is available. The feature was implemented in mid-2022, so it’s still pretty recent. If users demand a longer watch history time, TikTok will likely listen to its userbase.
