We talk a lot about the safety and privacy features on TikTok, which enable users to report those who are sharing indecent content or videos which are considered inappropriate.
But what happens if you report someone or a specific video and later decide that you want to revoke your report? Is it possible to un-report a user or video on TikTok – and if so, how do you do it?
Can You Un-report Something on TikTok?
The short answer to this is yes – with the ‘undo’ action fairly easy to use once you’ve found the video that you want to reverse your report on.
Before we get there, however, let’s look at some of the reasons why you might report something or someone on TikTok.
How Does the Report Feature Work?
As a TikTok user, you can report any video, user, or comment that you deem to be inappropriate or in violation of the community guidelines.
Once you have submitted your report, it is flagged to TikTok moderators who work to keep the app as safe and user friendly as possible – assessing reports and determining whether they are accurate or not.
It is easy to submit a report against a user or a piece of content that they post. Which means, in turn, that reversing the report is equally simple, with the right steps to follow…
5 Steps to Reverse a Report
It is possible to reverse a report by submitting a support request to the TikTok team.
Or alternatively you can follow these steps to find the piece of content you reported and undo the action.
- Navigate to your profile page on TikTok
- Select the menu button in the top right hand corner and select ‘Settings and Privacy’
- Select ‘Activity Centre’ and then ‘Watch History’
- A grid will appear with all the videos that you’ve recently viewed or watched. Here you can find the one that you reported and open it
- Click on the sweeping arrow icon which is the ‘Share’ button, and find the ‘Undo Report’ button along the bottom of the pop up menu
Selecting this undo button will remove your report. However, depending on how much time has passed, you may find that the video has already been flagged by TikTok or hidden from the app for assessment – so even undoing and removing your report may not mean that the video is immediately reinstated.
We hope this helps – and reminds you to only report videos and users who are in genuine violation of the community guidelines and user terms.
