Instagram notes are small text bubbles that appear above the profile picture of the person who wrote them. Notes can be up to 60 characters long and may include emojis. How to Get the Notes on Instagram
If you currently live in the UK, European Union, or Japan, you will not be able to use Instagram notes, as the feature has not been rolled out yet. Instagram plans to roll this feature out in these areas in 2023.
If you live in an area where the feature has been rolled out, you should be able to use notes immediately; just make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of the app.
How to See Notes on Instagram
The first thing to know is that you will not be alerted when someone in your friend list posts a note; you will need to manually check them. You can do this by opening the app and navigating to your DMs. Once you are in your inbox, you will see all of the notes from those you follow at the very top.
If you want to respond to a note, simply tap on it. If it is longer than the text bubble allows, you will be able to read the whole note this way. When you tap on it, your keyboard will also pop-up; you can respond to the note directly this way. If you do, your message will become a normal part of your chat thread with that person.
How to Add a Note on Instagram
Wondering how to add a note on Instagram? Thankfully it’s incredibly easy to do this. All you need to do is navigate to your inbox and look at the top of the screen.
Alongside the notes from those you follow, you will see your own profile picture. If you don’t already have a note, it will have a plus (+) sign. Press this icon and you will get a pop-up text box. You can then type directly into this text box up to 60 characters.
Once you have written your note, you must choose whether to show it to all your followers that you follow back, or only with those on your close friends list. Once you have decided, press “share” and your note will be visible for 24-hours.

Like stories, Instagram notes expire after 24 hours. One day after you publish a note, it will automatically disappear.
Can I add links to Instagram notes?
You can type out a link in your Instagram notes as long as it is less than 60 characters, but you cannot add a clickable link to your notes. Furthermore, while you can add emojis, you cannot add media files to your notes.
Why can’t I see Instagram notes?
If you can’t see or create notes on Instagram, it may be that they have not yet been rolled out in your area. However, if you are in one of the areas where the feature has been launched, try updating your Instagram app or logging out and logging back in.
