What Does POV Mean On Instagram?

There are some acronyms on Instagram that make little sense away from the platform – and there are some that are used widely across other areas of life both on and off social media.

POV falls into the latter category, as a commonly used acronym in everyday life.

POV stands for Point of View. It’s used as a way to introduce the way that you view something from a specific angle or perspective – and is most recently being used as part of a viral trend that takes pop culture clips and gives them a new meaning with a “POV”-based caption.

How to Use POV On Instagram

Point of View literally means taking someone on a journey through a specific perspective or point of view.

From an image and video content standpoint, this can be used to explain the different ways that content is captured and shared.

Via the trending memes which use POV captions, the acronym is most likely to be used to ridicule and tap into a comic photo or video clip.

What this tells us is that despite its single meaning and translation, there are different ways of using POV in action – depending on whether you are being serious or injecting humour into your content.

Which way have you seen POV being used on Instagram? Have you used it yourself?
