Facebook is, like every other social media platform, packed with acronyms, buzzwords, and shorthand phrases. While some of these are easy enough to decipher due to their widespread and common place nature – think LOL and BRB – others are harder to interpret.
One of those is SMH.
Defining SMH on Facebook
SMH stands for Shaking My Head.
It is an emotive response, often used to precede a reaction or as a direct response to another comment or post.
SMH is most often used in the following instances:
- When a user is frustrated or in disbelief
- When someone does not agree with a comment
- When a user is disappointed by the response or post from another
The next time you see SMH pop up in the comments section of a Facebook post, not only will you know what it means but you’ll be able to interpret the other responses around that comment with ease.
