What Font Does TikTok Use?

Interested in knowing a bit more about what happens behind the scenes at TikTok HQ?

Today’s post uncovers a little known fact about TikTok (and something that could come up as a quiz question one day, so be sure to store it away somewhere in your brain!)

In May 2023, TikTok introduced its own custom font which is called TikTok Sans.

This font is the default used on TikTok and was designed to enhance readability, optimise spacing, and work well across all different languages.

While there are other fonts used on TikTok, as the default go-to font, TikTok Sans is the gold standard on the app and the recommended font for all captions and layered text on your videos.

Secondary Fonts Used by TikTok

In addition to TikTok Sans, the app also uses the following fonts:

• Typewriter, the ideal font for a more artistic video title or caption
• Handwriting, popular with those creating a formal video or something celebratory (though often ranked as difficult to read)
• Neon, geometric and stand out
• Serif, a font that has been used to underpin a few trends with its bold and classy aesthetic
