What Is Facebook Meta?
Facebook was managed under its own brand name for years. However, since the company purchase WhatsApp and Instagram among other social-centred companies, its owner Mark Zuckerberg has been considering a rebrand.
In 2021, this rebrand was announced and Facebook was formally registered under the parent name Meta.
Meta is now the parent company under which Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and countless other companies fall. Facebook Meta and the Metaverse have become common terms across the social platform, designed to connect and engage people from all over the world – and bring innovative technology together under a single brand name.
The so-called Metaverse is a culmination of all the companies, start-ups, and investments that Meta has made and continues to make – funnelling funding and support into creative ideas and the practical actions that enables them to become reality.
So, Facebook Meta is not so much an offshoot of Facebook as it is an entirely new umbrella under which Facebook sits – sharing its corner of the industry with other brands and companies that strive to bring people together and facilitate sustainable connections.
