Wondering when you first became an active member of the Facebook community?

While there is no specific area of the platform that lets you know when you first signed up and became a Facebook user, there are things that you can do to work out how long you’ve been on the platform.

Track Your Personal Information History

The Activity Log in your Facebook settings is a comprehensive collection of every activity you have ever made on Facebook. It details all the likes, comments, friends, and pages that you have interacted with and engaged with – from the most recent right back to when you first joined the platform.

Of course, scrolling back through your entire activity log could take hours if not days – but what you can do is filter this information down to see only your Profile Information and Personal Details.

  1. Navigate to your Settings & Privacy menu via the Menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the app screen
  2. Scroll down and click on ‘Activity Log’
  3. Select ‘Personal Information’
  4. Select ‘Manage Personal Information’
  5. Scroll down to the earliest activity that’s logged in this list

Chances are that this early activity was performed at the start of your Facebook journey, as it includes things like profile pictures and personal details – all things that users focus on when they are building a new profile.

Look at Your Profile Information

Again, looking back at old information you have inputted can give you a good idea of when you first joined Facebook.

Adding work places and educational institutions is something that users typically do when they first join Facebook – and so scrolling back through those life events can give you a good indication of when you signed up for and joined the platform.

To do this, head to your profile and select ‘Edit Profile’, then ‘Edit Your About Info’.

Scroll down to Life Events and then tap ‘See All’, scrolling to the bottom of the list to see the first entry.

Use Your Friends

The final thing you can do is use the Friendship feature on Facebook. This feature enables you to visit the profile of anybody that you are friends with on Facebook, click on the three dots next to their username, and select ‘See Friendship’.

The beauty of this feature is that it provides a snapshot of your entire Facebook history together – including all the photos that you are tagged in together, shared memories and events, and the month and year that you became friends.

Choose a friend who you would have added straight away when you joined Facebook and follow the steps above to view your friendship with them on the platform. There is a good chance that the month and year that you became friends with them is similar to the time that you first joined and created your profile.

All three of these options can give you a good idea of when you first joined Facebook – especially if you quickly became an active user who added friends and started inputting life events and information about yourself. Use a combination of all three to refine the date as closely as you can.
